This hexagonal pattern by architect Eric Liftin is based on the work of Ernst Haeckel, an eclectic, 19th-century zoologist with a delightfully artistic approach to evolutionary biology. Liftin presents an orderly array of Haeckel’s waterborne creatures, whose conceptual illustrations were first published under the banner “Art Forms in Nature.” Arranged as if awaiting analysis and taxonomy, these colorful swamp-dwellers from the hydrosphere are a playful and thought-provoking way to add surprise and wonder to any space.
