A bold pop of color can energize a neutral kitchen and tie it to adjacent spaces. Echo the hue in smaller accents, such as lighting, to create cohesion without overpowering the room. Ground it all with timeless elements like white cabinetry or classic hardware to keep the look lasting, not trendy.

If you’re a frequent cook or entertainer, prioritize layout and functionality—then layer in the personality. Color, light, and thoughtful finishes can make even hardworking spaces feel joyful and tailored.

Whether it's an island, a bold range, or a standout backsplash, every kitchen needs a focal point that draws the eye. Woodwork, paneling, and millwork add architectural interest and depth—don’t overlook them. Think of stone, tile, and surfaces as supporting players—they should enhance the overall palette, not compete with it.

I love Benjamin Moore Cotton Balls, or a slightly warmer white like Mountain Peak White. Benjamin Moore Chantilly Lace in an eggshell sheen helps reflect natural light.

When selecting a marble, pay close attention to the veining and undertones. A stone with soft gold or warm veining—like Calcutta Oro—can complement cabinetry or accents. It’s about creating harmony between materials, so the stone feels like a natural part of the overall composition.

In a kitchen, function comes first—but with so many great products available, there’s no reason to sacrifice style. Ultimately, it comes down to personal preference. Some people like a pristine look, making composite stone a smart choice. Others embrace the character of a few oil or lemon stains on marble as badges of honor.

Start by asking the right questions: Do you prefer a rustic or contemporary look? Are you comfortable with the maintenance that comes with natural materials? Do you lean toward an all-white kitchen or something with color? Do you like a mix of materials or a more cohesive palette? Understanding how you live, and your design preferences will help guide the best material choices for your kitchen.
